H.R. 17: Citizens’ Self-Defense Act of 2009?
Have you all seen this bill…
11th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. R. 17
To protect the right to obtain firearms for security, and to use firearms in defense of self, family, or home, and to provide for the enforcement of such right.
A snippet for the bill reads:
(1) Police cannot protect, and are not legally liable for failing to protect, individual citizens, as evidenced by the following:
(A) The courts have consistently ruled that the police do not have an obligation to protect individuals, only the public in general. For example, in Warren v. District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, 444 A.2d 1 (D.C. App. 1981), the court stated:‘[C]ourts have without exception concluded that when a municipality or other governmental entity undertakes to furnish police services, it assumes a duty only to the public at large and not to individual members of the community.’.
(B) Former Florida Attorney General Jim Smith told Florida legislators that police responded to only 200,000 of 700,000 calls for help to Dade County authorities.
(C) The United States Department of Justice found that, in 1989, there were 168,881 crimes of violence for which police had not responded within 1 hour.
(2) Citizens frequently must use firearms to defend themselves, as evidenced by the following:
(A) Every year, more than 2,400,000 people in the United States use a gun to defend themselves against criminals–or more than 6,500 people a day. This means that, each year, firearms are used 60 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.

so what do you all think?
Ya know an awful lot of those DNC members got a NRA member card tucked away in their wallets… They may not be as popular as they once were but NRA still commands a huge voter base so I’m gonna say this one is 50/50

I am a Vietnam veteran and have lived for over thirty five years without any firearms in my house. As of November 5, 2008 I own a Springfield XD 9mm Pistol and a Remington Model 870 Express Combo, (26" Barrel 12GA Rem Full Choke & 20” fully rifled, rear- sighted deer barrel). I have purchased 10 (ten) extra 9 mm magazines and plenty of ammo for both. I am not nor have I ever been a member of the NRA, until now. I have a concealed weapons permit. I live in the Rocky Mountains so I have lots of room to hide things, like bodies.
I came to this decision for a couple of reasons. One is the guy in charge right now has no clue and the other being that the sh*t is going to hit the fan in such a way everybody is going to get a face full. You can do whatever you think will best suit you.
The part about the police not having a responsibility to protect you is true. There is no law that requires them to do so. If there were, then two thirds of the population would have to be police in order to protect each and every citizen twenty four hours a day. Here are three books that, if you already own or are thinking of buying a gun for self protection, you must read:
Armed Response: A Comprehensive Guide to Using Firearms for Self-Defense
In the Gravest Extreme: The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection
Ayoob Files: The Book
The authors are ranked as three of the top experts in self defense by firearm and the books are available at Amazon.
The Democrats will NEVER allow this to pass.
First it admits that government is not the answer
Second some criminals might get hurt, Dems would not only feel sorry for the hurt criminal but might lose a voter.
Third Dems want to abolish firearm ownership for ordinary citizens, they feel that without firearms it will be easier to control the masses. They will not have to worry about an uprising of the people.
Once again, logical approaches trump "emotional" ones. Add self-defense and gun ownership to the "W" column.
Yea, nobody cares about you or me so you gotta protect yourself.
The LAST thing the DNC wants it to reinforce the second amendment. It’ll never pass the current congress.
