Can a finance company use someone elses car for collateral on a personal loan?

My father took out a personal loan through a finance company last year in 2006. The finance company wanted a car for collateral and he used my car title even though the car title is in my name. He passed away in April of 2007, I can not afford to pay the finance company the payment amount they were charginghim on the loan on a monthly basis. They are threatining to take my car if I can not pay it even though the loan is in my father’s name and the car title is in my name only. He did not leave a will and his house was under mortgage so there is no estate. Is there anything I can do to save MY car from repossession. I do understand that paying the bill for the loan each month is the way to do that but I recieve SSI and do not have as much income as my father had. Please help?

personel finance management book recommendation?

I moved to the states a couple of years ago and got my residency 6 months ago. I have already have a secured credit card and a couple of store cards to build up my credit but I lack other very important personal finance knowledge. I can not stand asking my husband and in-laws how things work anymore.

I need a good but simple starting point. A book that discusses the following in general:
taxes
budget
life insurance
retirement
investment
and every other thing that a person must know to be financially secure.

I require Business/personal loan, from where i can get, help me in getting finance.?

I am a college student, and I am looking to buy a used car. I have saved up 00 and I would like to get a loan so I can get a decent car. My budget would be a car in between 00 and 00. I tried a credit union and my bank, however, I must loan +,500 and I’m not looking to buy an expensive car. So should I get a personal loan or finance at the dealership or actually consider borrowing 7,500 for a car?

I work for my dad as a mechanic and I plan on going to school for electrical engineering in May. My GF is only 17 and doesn’t have a job or any money really. I get paid about 8 25 an hour and my GF is still in school… I need to know a way that I can make alot more money than I am now… I would do anything to accomplish this… Please help me! I want the best for my kid!

Should I re finance my personal loan ?

I currently have a personal loan and 2 credit cards which I am thinking of re financing into one personal loan.

The person loan is a fixed loan and I still have around 2 or so years left on it.

I have looked at a personal loan calculator to amalgamate all these debts and the repayments are .00 less per month than my current personal loan repayments, not to mention the extra money I am paying every month on the credit cards.

The new interest rate If go ahead), is less than the interest rate I am paying on both the personal loan and the credit cards at the moment.

The only downside I can see is that the personal loan that should be paid off in a few years will now not be paid off for 7 years.

I am just about to stop my income as my maternity leave has stopped and am hoping not to have to go back to work for another 4 years (when my son goes to school), so the extra cash would really come in handy at the moment. I will be able to survive financially (hopefully) but the extra cash should really help.

Besides the extra interest we are paying, is there any other things that I should be taking into account before going ahead with this ? I don’t want to go ahead with this and then find that it was a bad choice and that I should have left it as it was.
