Should I wear socks with Tai Chi shoes?
I’m just starting out and I’m trying to make sure my attire is most conducive to getting the most out the experience. Outside of Tai Chi, I almost always wear socks with my workout shoes as it feels more comfortable, but I’m not sure if it’d effect my flow of chi, flexiblity, feel for the ground, etc, in this case. Also, they’re leather, so I’m a little concerned about their durability.
Thanks in advance for your comments. ![]()

Some Tai Chi masters believe that bare feet is the best. However, I believe that the comfort of the practitioner is more important. Make sure you are comfortable, with clothing that doesn’t restrict your movements or breathing. If you are more comfortable with socks on, wear them.
Try and elimate anything that will distract you from achieving a meditative state of mind. The Chi will flow better this way.
Just make sure you put on the socks first, then the shoes.
YES, you should wear socks with your Tai Chi shoes – I can assure you it will not effect the flow of your chi.
